The new CR7 Eye-wear collection will be available from the 2020 spring/summer season
The Portuguese five-time Champions League winner Cristiano Ronaldo will launch his own line of glasses with Italia Indipendent. Lapo Elkann founded the Italian company in 2007 and today he is its creative director. Elkann is one of the heirs of the Agnelli family, founder of Fiat and majority shareholder of Juventus via its holding company Exor.
Ronaldo and Elkann signed an exclusive 5-year global agreement.
This allows Italia Independent to create a collection of glasses under the CR7 brand to be distributed in 70 countries.
The first CR7 Eyewear collection was entirely inspired and designed for Cristiano Ronaldo. It will be presented on the occasion of Mido 2020. On the market, it will be available in the best opticians and e-commerce platforms starting from spring/summer 2020.
Elkann commented: “Today, for me and all of Italia Independent, is a memorable day. Having obtained the CR7 eye-wear license is of extraordinary importance in our growth journey.” Adding that creativity, speed of execution, and forward-thinking attitude are the ingredients that allowed his group to attract big international names. Celebrating the agreement, Elkann also said: “I hope and I am sure that with Cristiano and his team of excellent professionals, we will develop other exciting projects.”
The Juventus star and marketing phenomenon expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Elkann and affirmed that he can’t wait for the world to see his collection. “I have always been passionate about glasses and I always wanted to have my own line. I am really excited to collaborate with Italia Independent on this project,” he said.
