After only four editions, Design Shanghai – which this year will be open March 14 to March 17 – is already the most important design fair in Asia and the fourth in the world with about 400 brands, including worldwide renown architectural firms, interior designers, developers, and dealers. The proposed format, with collateral events, media coverage, networking opportunities, and gala evenings, makes it a unique platform with a huge potential return on investment for companies. For this reason, Medinit-Veronafiere, in collaboration with Media 10 and architect Mauro Felice, designed CasaMédinit Shanghai, an area of 300 sqm representing an apartment totally furnished by Italian design companies, with the aim to promote Made in Italy, opening new opportunities on the Asian market trough Design Shanghai.
CasaMédinit will not only have the main Italian design brands as protagonists – with furniture, kitchens, marble, etc. -, it will also be complemented with other excellence of the Made in Italy, like fashion designer Carrera Jeans, and numerous wineries presented in the ‘Vinitaly lounge’. Indeed, a ‘Preview night’ organized by Vinitaly and Italia del Vino will be exclusively dedicated to Italian wines. Director General of Veronafiere, Giovanni Mantovani, explained: “Today, in China, it is more necessary than ever to represent Italy in a unique way, and the contamination between two distinctive elements of the Italian style, such as design and wine, can help to determine the right perception of our brand.”
Ettore Francesco Sequi, the Italian Ambassador in Beijing, commented: “Italy is a global leader in the design sector, which is one of the most important export sectors for our country. The opportunities for Italian design companies in China are enormous. In the last 5 years, our sales of design and furniture products have grown by 50%, and we expect a further 20% increase over the next ten years. After all, Italy, thanks to the unique and unparalleled ability to combine technology, creativity, and functionality, is the world beauty superpower. Italy does not make design. Italy is design.”
