Fondazione Gian Paolo Barbieri opens in Milan

On February 22, in the spaces of Via Lattanzio 11 in Milan, where photographer Gian Paolo Barbieri has been working since 1997, he will inaugurate the Foundation that bears his name. Barbieri is a true living legend of twentieth-century photography, as well as the author of unforgettable shots for Vogue America, Vogue Italy, Vogue Paris, L’Officiel, GQ and Vanity Fair.

The inauguration events will take place over the entire duration of Milan Fashion Week, which constitutes the perfect opportunity to explore the artist’s historical archives: visitors will have the opportunity to embark on a journey through some of Barbieri’s most beautiful shots, including breathtaking landscapes, ethnic wonders, small great wonders of nature, and his numerous fashion works that made him famous internationally.

With his new project, Barbieri wants to create a new pulsing heart for exhibitions, workshops, and conferences, where industry professionals can meet with students and enthusiasts of the world of photography, fashion and art. Journalist Carlo Ducci anticipates: “It is a foundation that looks to the future, open to new generations. Far from proposing again the traditional museum concept centered on the ‘this is how it was once done’ mantra, it speaks the dynamic language of spontaneous teaching, offering curious eyes the opportunity to read – or reread – yesterday’s unusual stories.”
