The ‘Italian Design Day‘ is an integrated promotion project launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism to highlight the excellence and peculiarities of Italian design at an international level.
The ‘2018 Italian Design Day’ is dedicated to the relationship between design and sustainability, intended as economic, social and environmental, and will be celebrated in cities around the world thanks to the efforts of Embassies, Consulates and Italian Cultural Institutes, within the scope of the broader promotional strategy of the ‘Italian Way of Life’ campaign. On March 1st, 100 ambassadors of Italian Design – architects, designers, academics, entrepreneurs, critics, communicators – will take part in conferences, promotional events, exhibitions, and meetings to present Italian industrial design, one of the distinctive Italian sectors and key component of the country’s export.
Architect Massimo Roj has been appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as ambassador of the Italian design in Beijing for the event that will take place in there during the 2018 edition. Roj said: “I am honored to be able to give, even this year, my small contribution to this important initiative that bears witness to the crucial role that Italian design plays in the world. Furthermore, China, where we have been active for more than 15 years, is a country to which I am particularly attached, so the choice to assign me to the city of Beijing makes me even more proud.”
