With 130 exhibitors, including 90 galleries, the 8th edition of Mia Photo Fair, on show from March 9 to 12 at The Mall in the futuristic Milanese neighborhood of Porta Nuova, is the largest ever presented. The number of foreign galleries has greatly increased and this year they are 37, from Germany, France, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, Romania, Greece, Israel, the U.S., China, Singapore, and Argentina, and the coordinated image of the fair is entrusted to South African artist Siwa Mgoboza, selected in collaboration with Lagos festival. The fair also hosts geographical focus on Hungary, the Balearic Islands, Africa, and local realities – like the new Still Young gallery in Milan that aims to support young artists.
The ‘Joye de vivre‘ project, inspired by the carefree life of a couple in the 60s, by Letizia Cariello and presented by the Massimo Minimi gallery in Brescia, is the winner of the BNL award and it will be bought to be added to the credit institute’s collection of 5 thousand works of art. Moreover, the finalist works will be published on @bnl_cultura, the BNL Instagram account dedicated to art and photography. For MIA Proposal, the section dedicated to selected independent photographers, noteworthy is the return of Graziella Vigo, one of the best known Italian artists, celebrated abroad with a large number of photographic exhibitions from New York to Moscow. She exhibits 2 projects: ‘Portrait’ – on celebrities’ portraits -, and ‘Verdi on stage’ – that captured extraordinary moments during performances of Verdi’s operas in the world’s greatest theaters, including the Teatro alla Scala.
Mia Photo Fair is conceived and directed by Fabio Castelli and Lorenza Castelli, with the support of the Bnl Bnp Paribas, Lavazza and Eberhard & Co sponsors and the patronage of the Lombardy Region, the Metropolitan City of Milan and the Municipality of Milan.
