Green Carpet Fashion Awards 2018

On September 23rd, during the Milan fashion week, Teatro alla Scala will host the second edition of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italia, the international fashion project that focuses on ethical fashion and sustainability. The project was launched last year by Livia Firth, founder and Creative Director of Eco-Age, and Carlo Capasa, president of the Italian National Chamber of Fashion (Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana – CNMI).

The theme chosen for the second edition is: ‘Handprint of fashion’, in other words, the positive impact of manual skills and craftsmanship of the fashion sector. Livia Firth explains: “We must take into account the many aspects of the fashion world. We often talk about the ecological footprint of the products we create, but there are also other aspects that affect the production in a truly sustainable supply chain. The ‘handprint’ theme aims to include the social aspects of the supply chain, the sense of belonging and the cultural value that abound in the Italian production chain, which is connected to an artisan model.”

The Green Carpet Talent Competition, supported by The Bicester Village Shopping Collection by Value Retail, is also an integral part of the event’s philosophy. The competition challenges young designers from around the world to redefine the concept of sustainability in fashion, using the Italian supply chain.

Cristina Tajani, Milanese Councilor for Trade, Productive Activities, Fashion, and Design, commented: “The Italian Green Carpet Fashion Awards are part of a wider strategy to promote Italian know-how. It will continue in the next editions of the Milan fashion week, to turn this metropolis into a stage for the Made in Italy.”
