Italian design celebrated at the Shenzhen Design Week 2018

The 2nd edition of the Shenzhen Design Week will open on April 20th and conclude on April 30thin conjunction with Milan Design Week – with Italy as guest of honor, hosting numerous Italian designers and design works, especially on April 22nd, which will be the Italian Day. However, throughout the event, the Italian Pavilion, curated by the Turin Polytechnic and the Naba of Milan, will be the center of attention with the participation of many Italian production companies.

Barbara Pietrasanta, ambassador of Italian design, milanese artist and designer, Vice President of the Fondazione Museo del Design of the Milan Triennale, member of the Board of the Permanent Museum of Milan and of the Board of the Achille Castiglioni Foundation, will represent her country at the opening ceremony. This is her third time in this area of China, after she was invited by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take part, last March, in the initiatives organized for the Italian Design Day, at the University of Xiamen to illustrate the theme of the XXII Milan Triennale dedicated to “Design and Sustainability” and, subsequently, as a member of the International Jury for the Shenzhen Global Design Award.
This opens a continuous relationship through which the Triennale di Milano will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and design culture with Shenzhen, the center of what is called the China’s “Silicon Valley”, home to the most important international technological brands, and currently characterizing itself as the Chinese design capital.
