Saturday will be a double celebration day for Juventus fans. After the Serie A finale played against Verona there will be a championship party, but also a farewell party for Gianluigi Buffon, ‘the goalkeeper of the records’, who announced that Saturday’s one will be his last game with the black and white shirt. However, the 40-year-old player left his future plans in limbo after refusing to reveal if he will retire or not after receiving offers from other clubs.
Buffon and Juventus president Andrea Agnelli appeared in an emotional press conference on Thursday, during which Agnelli hugged Buffon shelling the numbers of his victories, presences, and unbeaten records, to confirm that Saturday’s final league encounter – after which Juventus will lift their seventh straight Serie A cup and Buffon’s ninth in total – will be the last one for the legendary Italian goalkeeper with the team – or ‘family’, as he calls it – with which he played for 17 years. However, in the same press conference, Buffon revealed, in what appears to be something of a U-turn, that he has received “interesting proposals” in the last few days that could lead him to continue playing soccer into next season. 
“Saturday will be my last match with Juventus. I do believe that this will be the best way to end this great adventure” Buffon said. “Fifteen days ago I knew I wanted to stop playing football, but now some proposals for on and off the pitch position have arrived and an off-the-pitch one, came from Andrea (Agnelli).” Juventus president offered him to remain in the team moving to a non-playing role; an offer which, he added, he is genuinely considering. “I will decide next week to follow my spirit,” he concluded.
