The Royal Palace of Caserta, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be the exclusive location of the “Reggia Challenge Cup 2018” promoted by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro Internazionale, which once again for its 4th edition will bring to the south of Italy the protagonists of the Boat Race that traditionally takes place on River Thames in London.
The rowing race between the crews of the English Universities of Oxford and Cambridge will be the most awaited moment of the event, which will take place in the Fontana dei Delfini. This 350 meters long and 30 meters wide body of water that will elect the winning crew at the end of the traditional race that has always proved to be uncertain until the last moment. The Fontana dei Delfini will also be the setting of the many competitions reserved for young crews, including those of the Paralympic Italian Committee, of which Fondazione Terzo Pilastro has been one of the main supporters for years. In the program, there is also an initiative reserved for a number of students of Campania and Lazio schools, who are on June 4 started a seven-day internship aboard promotional boats always in the Fontana dei Delfini.
The main sponsor of the Reggia Challenge Cup is the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro Internazionale that, with the support of many other institutions such as Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (Mibact), the Campania Region, and the Italian Rowing Federation, organized these days in the name of sport, art, and culture.
