Francesco Totti, born in Rome in 1976, has always been an AS Roma man to seal this bond the club has awarded him a place in its Hall of Fame. During the ceremony, ahead of the Champions League game against Real Madrid on Tuesday night, The Captain – as his fans call him – received his Hall of Fame jersey.
The 42-year-old striker, who has made more than 786 appearances for the club since his debut in 1993 scoring 307 goals and winning two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa, and made his final appearance for the club he ever played for on May 29, 2017. On Tuesday night he walked out in front of the Curva Sud filled with AS Roma fans once more, to accept his special Hall of Fame jersey, joining in this way the other great names in Giallorossi history who have been added to the Hall since its foundation in 2012. All of them have received a unique celebratory jersey that has been produced in only two specimens, one for the person who received it and one that is kept in the club’s museum.
“It’s a landmark day, so special. I’m a Roman, a Roma fan, I only played for one club, I was the captain… it’s a privilege that is difficult to put into words. To stand here in front of the fans is always emotional for me. To be with them makes every day like the Hall of Fame for me. Like always we are united; we are all brothers, sisters – I truly love you all. You are my Hall of Fame, you are what I treasure and always will.”
To marks Totti’s addition to the Hall Of Fame, AS Roma released a special Francesco Totti capsule collection. The limited edition AS Roma Totti collection includes a t-shirt, a scarf, a bag as well as a special AS Roma Totti Hall Of Fame kit.
