Like every year, TripAdvisor has published the ranking of the most beautiful beaches voted according to the website’s users. The gold and silver medal of the 2019 Travelers’ Choice Awards for the Top 10 Beaches in Italy go to beaches on two different Sicilian islands, however, half of the whole ranking is occupied by Sardinian beaches. Calabria, Liguria, and Campania are featured once each. Here are the magnificent 10:
1 – Spiaggia dei Conigli, Lampedusa, Sicily – On the biggest of the Pelagie Islands, this beach is a natural gem set in a unique setting with clear blue water with an incredible marine fauna.
2 – Cala Rossa Beach, Isola di Favignana, Sicily – On one of the Aegadian Islands, its typical amphitheater shape and the deep blue sea is a marvel of nature.
3 – Tropea Beach, Calabria – In the province of Vibo Valentia, this fine sand beach is just below a cliff overlooking the sea whose colors turn from deep blue to turquoise.
4 – Cala Mariolu, Baunei, Sardinia – Located in the Gulf of Orosei, in the province of Nuoro. It owes its name to the monk seal which traditionally stole fish from the fishermen and it is surrounded by a 500 m high cliff.
5 – Bay of Silence, Sestri Levante, Liguria – A delightful inlet in the province of Genoa with a romantic and almost magical atmosphere, framed by typical Ligurian colored houses. Small fishing and tourism boats enhance the enchanting scenery.
6 – Cala Golortitzé, Baunei, Sardinia – Another beautiful beach in the province of Nuoro. It is famous for the high pinnacle that overlooks it, is a cove that was formed as a result of a landslide that fell in 1962. To reach this corner of paradise, it is necessary to take an hour of long walk surrounded by nature.
7 – Cala Coticcio, Caprera, Sardinia – On the second one of La Maddalena islands, this cove with crystal clear water is subject to environmental protection and is always sheltered by winds and currents.
8 – Cala Sinzias, Castiadias, Sardinia – In the province of South Sardinia, this 2 km long beach has fine white and golden sand and its transparent waters are considered to be as among the purest in Sardinia.
9 – Su Giudeu Beach, Domus de Maria, Sardinia – Another beach in the province of South Sardinia, it boasts. When the tide is low, it is possible to walk to the rock in front of the beach, that is a small island when the tide is high.
10 – Marinella Beach, Palinuro, Campania – In the province of Salerno, it features a succession of beach resorts from which it is possible to easily reach natural wonders such as the Blue Grotto, the scoglio del Coniglio, the Natural Arch, and the Sulfurea cave.
