In the sixth edition of the Annual Berlin International Spirits Competition, the Distilleria F.lli Caffo won the award for Best Italian Distillery 2019. Moreover, after evaluating over 300 specialties from 19 countries around the world, the jury of experts in the spirits sector presented Caffo with further prestigious awards: a Gold Medal for the Limoncino dell’Isola, a Silver Medals for the Liquorice and the 1970 Heritage Brandy Riserva, and a Bronze Medal for the ‘Sgnape dal Fogolar grappa.
For Caffo these international awards confirm the value of ancient recipes, the fruit of years and years of research and rework. This is particularly true in the light of the fact that the distillery decided not presented in the competition its best-known brands such as Vecchio Amaro del Capo or Borsci S. Marzano, products that have already received numerous awards at a national and internationally. Caffo bet on less known products, achieving, nevertheless, exceptional results.
The organizers of the event, in their final statement and in the congratulatory message sent to the Caffo, mentioned that the jurors found themselves choosing the winners among fine liqueurs and spirits and decided to give the award to the Caffo in consideration of the excellent quality of its products.
Nuccio Caffo, CEO of the company, said: “The Best Italian Distillery Award is undoubtedly a source of pride, but also a great responsibility because it makes us bearers of Italian taste in the world. The certificates of the Berlin jury are a further incentive to continue on the path undertaken and we look to the future with confidence in the belief that we will continue to amaze our public.”
