For three days – April 5-7 – Miart, the international fair of modern and contemporary art, will return once more to be the epicenter of the Milan Art Week with 186 participating galleries from 19 different countries that will be hosted in pavilion 3 of fieramilanocity.
Miart 2019, organized by Fiera Milano and directed for the third year by Alessandro Rabottini, is divided into seven sections that combine a mix of established and emerging artists, history and experimentation. By now, the success of miart is so consolidated that several international galleries chose it for their first presence in Italy; some of these are Cabinet (London), Marian Goodman Gallery (New York – Paris – London), Hauser & Wirth (Hong Kong – London – Los Angeles – New York – Somerset – St. Moritz – Gstdaad – Zurich), and Herald St (London).
Like last year, eighteen international museum directors and curators of institutions from ten countries will be part of the juries responsible for the Fondazione Fiera Milano acquisition fund and of the awards that Miart assigns to galleries and artists with the aim to identify the works and artists that will enrich the collections of the Acquisition Funds.
The 24th edition of miart presents all of the above in the context of the Milan Art Week, the week dedicated to art which this year includes openings, events, and special openings of exhibitions and projects organized by major Milanese public institutions and private foundations, which also include Sheela Gowda and Giorgio Andreotta Calò (Pirelli HangarBicocca), Lizzie Fitch / Ryan Trecartin (Fondazione Prada Milano), Anna Maria Maiolino (PAC), Broken Nature.
