The Antico Vinaio, a historic eatery near the Uffizi Museum, is the best place in Florence where to grab local street food like a delicious sandwich or a tasty schiacciata – the typical white flatbread pizza – stuffed with Tuscan delicacies paired with a glass of red wine. All of this scrumptiousness, for one month, will be available in New York thanks to a collaboration between the young Tuscan entrepreneur Tommaso Mazzanti, at the head of the Antico Vinaio, and Joe Bastianich, owner of ‘Otto Enoteca e Pizzeria’ in One Fifth Avenue at 8th Street.
From June 13th to July 13th, the famous schiacciate and sandwiches of ‘L’Antico Vinaio‘, which for years has been one of the most reviewed places in the world on TripAdvisor, will, therefore, appear on the American menu of Bastianich’s pizzeria. The Tuscan sandwiches, with their names evocative of Florentine history such as ‘Hell” or “Dante“, will be included in the offer of the Italian-American restaurant that will dedicate to ‘L’Antico Vinaio‘ a pop-up corner.
Alongside the iconic proposals of the ‘L’Antico Vinaio‘, the corner will present a special schiacciata designed especially for the American public, the ‘Washington Square Park’, which will be stuffed with lard, gorgonzola, truffle, and zucchini flowers. And, as it traditionally happens in ‘L’Antico Vinaio’ in Florence, each sandwich and schiacciata will be served with a glass of wine.
Mazzanti commented: “For the first time, ‘L’Antico Vinaio’ leaves Via De Neri and flies to Manhattan. I am very happy and honored but above all very excited to start this wonderful month-long adventure in New York with a great friend, Joe Bastianich.”
