Wine Spectator, the renowned American magazine devoted to the world of wine, presents its ‘Grand Award’ to restaurants that show uncompromising, passionate devotion to the quality of their wine programs, typically offering 1,000 or more selections and the highest level of service. This year, among the only 8 new restaurants listed in the magazine’s Hall of Fame there is Carlo Crac
co‘s new establishment in Milan.
‘Ristorante Cracco’ opened in February 2018, in an almost cinematographic location in the heart of Milan, between Piazza Duomo and Piazza della Scala, in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and it occupies 1,118 square meters on 5 floors within a refined nineteenth-century architecture. This multi-function space has a café and pastry shop on the first floor, the actual a restaurant on the second floor, a hall for private functions on the second floor, kitchens, service areas and an impressive wine cellar in the basement. A cellar that houses the 2,500-selection list curated by wine director Alex Bartoli.
Wine Spectator, about ‘Ristorante Cracco’, wrote: “a truly elevated dining experience, delivering a world-class wine list, outstanding cuisine and exceptional service, all in a graceful setting.” Describing it as “a dazzling but calm oasis above the city’s bustling shopping area, with a list packed with unicorn wines.”
The other five Italian great confirmations in Wine Spectator’s the Grand Awards list are: ‘Enoteca Pinchiorri’ (Florence) by Giorgio Pinchiorri and Annie Feolde; ‘La Pergola’ (Rome) by Heinz Beck, with the cellar curated by Marco Reitano; ‘La Ciau del Tornavento’ (Treviso) by Maurilio Garola; ‘La Bottega del Vino’ (Verona) led by Luca Nicolis; and ‘Il Poeta Contadino’ (Alberobello) by Leonardo Marco.
