For 3,000 years the spring poured therapeutic water at a constant temperature of 37.5 °C

Set in the heart of Maremma, the wildest regions of the Tuscany, there is one of the largest hot spring area in Italy. Covering an area of about 120 hectares, it stretches from Mount Amiata and the hills of Fiora and Albegna rivers to the Maremma of the province of Grosseto at Roselle (Terme di Roselle) and Talamone (Terme dell’Osa). The most famous baths fed by this system of springs are those found in the municipality of Manciano (province of Grosseto), a few kilometers from the medieval village of Saturnia, and called Terme di Saturnia.

Here, in the majestic scenery of the Tuscan countryside, the sulfurous spring water has been  continuously pouring, for about 3,000 years, from the heart of the earth at a constant temperature of 37.5 °C. With a continuous and natural replacement of 800 liters at the second, the water maintains its well known therapeutic properties without the need for any external manipulation offering relaxation and well being to whoever is bathe in them.

Before reaching the spring, the water travels underground for about 40 years collecting all the active ingredients that make it so precious: in every liter of water, in fact, there are 2.79 grams of dissolved mineral salts as well as large amounts of gasses, such as hydrogen sulfide and anhydride carbon.

To make the most of this magic place, in 1919, the Ciacci family founded the famed luxury spa of Terme di Saturnia Spa, which offers the opportunity to enjoy high-quality hospitality while relaxing in its four  outdoor thermal pools, whirlpools, and vascular paths or enjoying thermal treatments in the adjacent Beauty Clinic.
