‘Il Divin Codino’, directed by Letizia Lamartire, will tell his 22 years of career and his private life
“It is the story of a humble man with a boundless talent who has changed Italian football with his play. We will tell the story of a person who, through personal suffering, has achieved great triumphs.” These the words of director Letizia Lamartire at the announcement of the new movie about Roberto Baggio. Netflix and Mediaset will co-produce it and bring it to world-wide subscribers next year.
The legendary number 10 and 1993 Ballon d’Or winner made 56 appearances for the Azzurri, scoring a total of 27 goals. Baggio, in 2002, also became the first Italian player in over 30 years to score more than 200 times while playing for both Milan clubs, Fiorentina, Juventus, Bologna, and Brescia.
He is one of the greatest ever Serie A strikers. He is also one of the most popular players of the national team of all time.
In the film, titled “Il Divin Codino” after his famous nickname, the 26-year-old Andrea Arcangeli will interpret Baggio.
Moreover, the forward player himself will personally follow the entire realization of the movie. This is one of just seven that have been commissioned by the new partnership of Netflix and Mediaset. “I am very happy to have the opportunity to undertake such an exciting challenge, which is to share the story of one of the greatest legends of Italian football”. Revealed Lamartire. “I want to tell the story of Roberto Baggio and this partnership allows me to show the world his whole life. Not just his football career.”
“This is a trial agreement that will cover seven films and is the first step forward in a world that must not have barriers and that wants to enhance what we do in Italy“. Revealed Alessandro Salem, director of Mediaset content. “We think that these alliances between big TV operators, that focus on original content, are one of the most effective responses to the great changes taking place in the media industry.”
