Marche is among ‘Best in Travel 2020’

Lonely Planet guide listed “one of Italy’s great unsung regions” as the second-best in the world

Lonely Planet, the most famous tourist guides in the world, published its ranking of the best places to visit in 2020. The ‘Best in Travel 2020‘ lists all the most beautiful and interesting destinations not to be missed for next year. In the top 10 dedicated to world regions, the ‘Best in travel 2020 – Top regions‘, in second place there is the Marche region. It is considered a must for 2020 travel plans and, on a global scale second only to the Central Asian Silk Road. According to the guide, it is “one of Italy’s great unsung regions”. Indeed, it is much less popular than the neighboring Tuscany, but certainly no less fascinating.

Located  on the east coast of Central Italy, this amazing region has a great diversity of stunning sceneries. This multi-faceted beauty has all sorts of landscapes all to be discovered. From cliffs and caves overlooking unforgettable beaches to lush hills and snow-capped mountains (well-equipped for ski lovers). Marche protects many of these environments with national and regional nature reserves, like  WWF oasis.

The Monti Sibillini and Monti della Laga National Parks are also truly impressive and offer a wealth of trekking trails.

The cultural menu is also very rich. Renaissance masterpieces by artists such as Giotto, Raphael, and Perugino adorn many of the regions’ churches and museums. In fact, in 2020, the spotlight will shine especially on Urbino, one of the major cities of the region. It was the birthplace of Raphael, as well as a major center of Renaissance history. For this reason, it will be at the center of the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the death of the Renaissance painter.
