He is to run against Streisand, Bublé, Costello, and Legend for the ‘Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album’ award
The nominations for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony have finally been announce. On January 26, 2020 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, at the ceremony there will also be Andrea Bocelli. He is one of the nominee for the ‘Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album‘ together with Barbara Streisand, Michael Bublé, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, and John Legend.
Bocelli’s ‘Sì‘ album, produced by Sugar and release in October 2018, is his 16th studio album. And the first of original material in 14 years. The album debuted at number one both on the UK Albums Chart and US Billboard 200.
Another first time for Bocelli or any other Italian artist for that matter.
It is also the first classical album to peak at number one in 20 years in the United Kingdom and 10 years in the United States.
Bocelli comments: “I just received the announcement of the nomination. It is fantastic news that once again testifies the great affection and esteem that America reserved for me over 20 years. However, it is also a fantastic opportunity for thanking all my supporters and those who believed in me since the beginning. An important event that is more unique than rare. I also want to thank the Recording Academy and all of those who, like Sugar, worked on this incredible project.”
