Gucci Osteria to open in Los Angeles with Massimo Bottura

The starred chef describes the menu as “a journey of Italian flavors meeting the LA culinary food map”

In 2018, the collaboration between Massimo Bottura and Gucci originated a starred restaurant in Florence.

Now they will replicate the format of the Gucci Osteria in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, on the rooftop of the refurbished Gucci store.

The entrance of the 50-seat restaurant will be between the men’s and women’s stores on Rodeo Drive.

Their idea is to bring the essence of Italian cuisine to California, embracing local ingredients without fear of particular contamination. In fact, Bottura described the menu as “a journey of Italian flavors meeting the LA culinary food map.” The menu is designed by Bottura together with chefs Karime Lopez (who is the chef in Florence) and Mattia Agazzi, who will be running the L.A. Kitchen.

They will draw inspiration from the differences of the culinary experiences. Cross-references between Italy and California will be seen in dishes such as ‘Coming From the Hills’, white trout with mushrooms and hazelnuts. There will also be a special chocolate dessert dedicated to Bottura’s son. There will also be typical dishes like tortellini topped with a cream of Parmesan.

However, the Italian touch will not only be seen in the kitchen of Gucci Osteria, which is expected to open on February 17th. The fashion house’s creative director Alessandro Michele will support Bottura taking care of the furnishings.

He’s expected to use a lot of red, both in the choice of marble and in the benches.
