AlpiNN inside the Lumen Museum of Mountain Photography in Brunico is a celebration of food culture
As it has happened for the past 6 years, Leading Culture Destination as selected nominees and winners of the equivalent of the Academy Awards for museums. And this year, in Berlin, the experts of the culture travel network – including Matthew Anderson from the New York Times – awarded an Italian restaurant as “Best Restaurant within a museum space.”
### It is AlpiNN, the gourmet space designed by chef Robert Niederkofler, three Michelin stars with the St. Hubertus restaurant in San Cassiano in Badia (Bolzano).
It came before Flutes, inside the Singapore National Museum, and Beba of the Gropius Bau in Berlin.
AlpiNN‘s impressive location is the Lumen Museum of Mountain Photography in Brunico (Bolzano). Opened two years ago, at an altitude of 2275 m above sea level, the Museum combines photography, architecture (with multimedia installations, halls of mirrors, and Wunderkammer), and, thanks to AlpINN, the culinary art. The project took life from the recovery of the former cable car station. And it was curated by architect Gerhard Mahlknecht, with Giò Forma’s outfitting.
The restaurant is the result of the ‘Cook the Mountain‘ culinary project wanted by Niederkofler and his partner Paolo Ferretti. The project develops around a cuisine that respects the mountain context of the Dolomites. Thus, raw materials and recipes are local and are chosen considering seasonality and sustainability. AlpiNN, designed by Martino Gamper, is a panoramic modern space in a suspended crystal cube. A unique location where to savor innovative gourmet dishes while admiring the 360-degree panorama.
