Massimo Bottura became famous as restaurateur and the chef-patron of the three-Michelin-stars ‘Osteria Francescana‘ restaurant in Modena. Now, he is also a star of the web and was a protagonist of the 24th Annual Webby Awards, the Oscars of the internet. He received a Special Achievement Award as chef of the year for having used his experience and capabilities over the Internet in a novel and impactful way.
He did so, entertaining and delighting audiences through his ‘Kitchen Quarantine’ series that inspired home cooking and uplifted spirits.
During the lockdown, and thanks to an intuition of his daughter Alexa, he made daily lives from his house, mainly from the kitchen. With his free and informal lessons he showed how to create inspired dishes using common household ingredients while answering cooking-related questions. In this way he demonstrated his belief in the Internet’s power to help people find joy and develop new skills while navigating isolation. The series of Instagram Lives after the start of the lockdown **garnered 1.3 million followers. **
The 24th Annual Webby Awards said to be thrilled to honor chef Massimo Bottura. “For his incredible positivity, and use of digital platforms to engage millions in the act of caring for their bodies and families with good food, while uplifting their spirits during the coronavirus outbreak.”
