Sigurtà Garden Park, one of the greatest gardens of the world

Near Verona, blooming flowers, a rose-lined avenue, a 400-century-old oak tree, and much much more

Halfway between Milan and Venice, in the province of Verona, there is a breathtaking 600,000-square-meters park. Only in the last two years, it received four awards. In 2019, it won the “World Tulip Award” from the World Tulip Society. While in 2020, Tiqets crowned it “Best Attraction 2020: Global Winner” and one of the winners of the “Global Remarkable Venue Awards”. Last year, it also won the “Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Award” from Tripadvisor. However, Sigurtà Garden Park is not exactly a novelty.

Founded in 1407, it treasures numerous points of historical and natural interest. Enchanting and colorful blooms accompany visitors throughout the seasons. In March and April, “Tulipanomania” amazes them with the bloom of over a million tulips of many different shapes and colors. In May, an avenue lined with 30,000 roses leads them on a 1-kilometer long floral walk. While in summer, hundreds of rustic and tropical water lilies dance in the 18 ponds of the park, creating colorful real-life paintings. There is also the 2,500 square meter Maze made of 1,500 yew trees as well as the Medicinal Herbs Garden. Other points of interest are the Votive Grotto, the Dog Cemetery, the Panoramic Walk, the Great Lawn, Romeo and Juliet sundial, the Hermitage, and the Castelletto. Nevertheless, one of the most loved attractions is the Great Oak. The 4-century-old tree is the eldest in the Park. It boasts a 6-meter round trunk in perfect proportion with its 120-meter circumference crown that covers an area of about 1,000 square meters and about 40 meters of height. For children, the Didactic Farm is not to be missed. It has a great range of farmyard animals, which includes Paduan Hens and Tibetan goats, it is the perfect place for exciting educational workshops.

Young and older visitors alike may choose to explore the Park on foot, by bike (their own or rented on-site), with the Enchanted Trail train, with a guided tour on the electric shuttle, or an electric golf-carts.
