‘Alimenta Ancora’, savoring food, beauty, and culture in the Venetian Lagoon

The excellence of 6 restaurants united in the heart of the lagoon on board the Edipo Re for a unique experience

‘Alimenta Ancora – Residence Kitchen’ is the brainchild of Edipo Re, a cultural, social, and entrepreneurial reality in the heart of the Venetian Lagoon. The project is promoted in collaboration with Alpes Inox and the participation of Hotel Cipriani. Essential also the partnership with six of the best restaurants in Venice: Oro, Alle Testiere, Al Covo, Antiche Carampane, Local, and Glam. All of those involved in the project have gathered around the desire to share their skills and excellence to contribute to the creation of a new way to experience Venice and becoming one with its environment. The recipe? Six chefs, a new kitchen on an iconic sailing boat, food bought together directly from the boat, and guests that want more than the usual sightseeing tour.

‘Alimenta Ancora – Residence Kitchen’ is the brainchild of Edipo Re, a cultural, social, and entrepreneurial reality in the heart of the Venetian Lagoon

The Edipo Re sailing boat has a long history. For decades it sailed from coast to coast, saving many people on the run. Then, in the late 1950s, it became the scene of extraordinary crossings for Pier Paolo Pasolini and for the painter Giuseppe Zigaina who transformed it into a meeting place for visionaries. Today, Edipo Re is sailing again and is giving life to new encounters and adventures.

Guests embark with the chefs and the Edipo Re team and have the opportunity to dive into an experience that will involve all the senses: touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing. The typical day is planned with times and stages. However, anything else is all very spontaneous and goes with the flow. The trip begins in the late morning and finishes at sunset with an aperitif overlooking the San Marco basin. In tasting the dishes created by the chefs and sipping carefully selected wines, guests have the opportunity to see Venice and its lagoon from a new perspective. They can also swim where the Lagoon meets the sea, relax in the sun, and even cook with the chefs and see the preparation of the dishes. Indeed, there is no set menu, the chefs cook with what is bought during the trip consulting a sort of recipe logbook that they have been writing since the first outing.

Thanks to the mastery of all the chefs involved, the charm of Venice, and the incredible atmosphere aboard Edipo Re, the experience becomes a unique one. And this is the main feature of Alimenta Ancora – Residence Kitchen.
