Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli teams up with UNESCO for ocean conservation at America's Cup

In a powerful alliance for the ocean, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and UNESCO join forces to champion ocean conservation on a global stage.

This exciting partnership was announced on the opening day of the Ocean Literacy World Conference in Venice, co-organized by UNESCO and the Prada Group.

During the 37th America’s Cup, the Luna Rossa boat will proudly display the logos of UNESCO and SEA BEYOND, the Prada Group’s educational program focused on ocean literacy for younger generations. This collaboration signifies UNESCO’s long-standing commitment to ocean observation and advocacy, previously partnering with sailors from prestigious races like the Barcelona World Race and Vendée Globe.

We are incredibly honored to be chosen by UNESCO as an ambassador for ocean protection,” said Max Sirena, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli’s Skipper and Team Director. “We will strive to be worthy representatives, promoting ocean literacy and marine conservation efforts worldwide.”

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, echoed this sentiment. “The participation of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli in the America’s Cup brings the message of ocean protection to the forefront,” she said. “This partnership is a fantastic way to solidify the alliance between UNESCO and the Prada Group in ocean education.”

The SEA BEYOND program reflects the shared passion for ocean literacy between UNESCO and the Prada Group. Since its launch in 2019, SEA BEYOND has championed educational initiatives, supported the dissemination of scientific research, and fostered humanitarian projects – all dedicated to the health of our oceans.

Being recognized by UNESCO as an ambassador for the ocean fills us with immense pride,” said Lorenzo Bertelli, Executive Director of the Prada Group and Patron of the Ocean Decade Alliance. “As a strong advocate for ocean health, I’m personally committed to leveraging this synergy to spread knowledge and ignite a love for the sea.”
