One of the main events is the exhibition Prima della Rivoluzione oggi / 1964-2024, curated by film critic Marcello Garofalo and designed by Riccardo Bizziccari. The display includes backstage photographs by Giovanni Lunardi and Carlo Bavagnoli, Bertolucci’s original screenplay, personal notes, press clippings, video interviews, and various objects that narrate the film’s production and context.
The exhibition offers visitors a close-up view of Bertolucci’s creative process, exploring the making of a film that left a lasting mark on Italian cinema. Alongside the exhibition, Prima della Rivoluzione was screened at Teatro Regio on October 1, followed by a conference on Bertolucci’s relationship with melodrama, featuring notable filmmakers like Marco Tullio Giordana and Mario Martone.
Additionally, the original screenplay of the film will be published for the first time, accompanied by critical essays and backstage photographs, curated by Garofalo and published by La Nave di Teseo, providing valuable insights into the young Bertolucci’s creative genius.
The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, until November 30, 2024. This tribute not only commemorates a milestone of Italian cinema but also invites the public, particularly younger generations, to rediscover Bertolucci’s work and its continued relevance today.
