Organized by All About Italy magazine—a platform dedicated to promoting Made in Italy since 1997—the event will take place on December 12 in the enchanting setting of the Herkulessaal in Munich.
This fourth edition serves as an international showcase for Italian culture, art, and music. One of the evening’s most anticipated moments will be the performance of Tableaux Vivants, a tribute to the great Italian masters of painting through live representations of their works. The group Teatri 35 will bring an immersive, visual, and conceptual performance to the stage in Munich. The choice of Tableaux Vivants is no coincidence: this art form, rooted in medieval liturgies and baroque festivities, has evolved over the centuries into an autonomous, symbolic interpretation of paintings, blending reality and mimesis in a representation that goes beyond mere imitation.
The Tableaux Vivants performance will be accompanied by Luigi Cherubini’s Solemn Mass in D Minor No. 2, composed for Prince Esterházy, under the artistic and musical direction of Maestro Annunziata De Paola. The orchestra Münchner Bachsolisten and the Philharmonischer Chor München will be on stage, with a choir of forty singers and six soloists, totaling nearly one hundred performers! Teatri 35’s homage to Caravaggio and his school not only exemplifies Italian artistic excellence but also serves as a bridge between past and present.
This performance offers audiences the chance to enter a world where painting comes alive, where images are transformed into gestures, and where the masterpieces of great Italian artists are reinterpreted with a contemporary sensibility. With a special focus on the use of light—directly inspired by Italian painters’ studios—the stage in Munich will transform into a space that pays homage to Caravaggio, his visionary genius, and his mastery of chiaroscuro and dramatic expression.
This celebration is supported by** prominent brands **such as Generali Assicurazioni, Maserati, and Rocco Forte Hotels, as well as public entities like the regions of Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Tuscany. Industry associations such as the Consorzio Prosecco DOC and the Consorzio per la Tutela del Radicchio di Treviso IGP e del Radicchio Variegato di Castelfranco IGP are also participating. Together, they highlight the strength of Made in Italy beyond national borders and emphasize the importance of adequate protections against those who might seek to alter its authenticity or weaken its status as a symbol of Italian craftsmanship and expertise.
“We are proud to bring such a high-profile cultural show to Munich,” says Paolo Del Panta, editor of All About Italy, highlighting the event’s innovative and exclusive nature. Gala Italia is not just an entertainment event but a true cultural manifesto, symbolizing Italy’s ability to blend tradition with innovation. This event, organized for the first time since the pandemic, marks the beginning of a new season of international events planned for 2025 by All About Italy, with destinations across Europe and overseas—all dedicated to promoting Made in Italy.
