BIT 2025: The International Tourism Exchange in Milan

From February 9 to 11, 2025, Fiera Milano (Rho) will host BIT, the International Tourism Exchange, a key event for the industry focusing on innovation, sustainability, and emerging trends.

With the claim “If You Travel, It Shows,” the fair aims to connect industry professionals, international buyers, and travelers with the goal of promoting innovation, sustainability, and professional growth. The event will feature 1,100 exhibitors from 66 countries, including Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and France. Exhibiting companies will include tourism associations, cruise lines, promotion boards, hospitality structures, and companies specializing in tourism technology. This represents a strategic opportunity for businesses looking to connect with selected buyers and industry professionals interested in both Italian and international tourism offerings, enhancing their brand image and showcasing the latest innovations. BIT 2025 will welcome over 40,000 visitors from 107 countries, including international buyers, travel agencies, tour operators, and tourism marketing professionals.

The Incoming Buyer program, curated by the fair’s team, has identified key international buyers through the My Matching platform, turning connections into business opportunities. With over 8,585 scheduled professional meetings, B2B appointments will increase by 14% compared to 2023, reaffirming BIT’s role as a strategic event for global tourism development. The fair will be structured into three main thematic areas. The leisure section will connect tourism supply and demand, allowing attendees to discover new destinations and lesser-known attractions. The BeTech area will be dedicated to business services and networking, with a special focus on digital and social technologies. MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) will be the section dedicated to business tourism, featuring industry professionals and top buyers in the segment.

In addition to business opportunities, BIT 2025 will offer a rich program of educational events, featuring 200 speakers and over 50 sessions on the most relevant industry topics. Discussions will center on artificial intelligence, new business travel strategies, green hospitality, and sentiment analysis, providing participants with practical tools to navigate market challenges. BIT takes place at a favorable time for Italian tourism, which continues to grow. In 2023, the country recorded 133.6 million arrivals and 447.2 million overnight stays, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and reaffirming itself as one of the world’s top destinations.

In 2024, overnight stays reached 215 million (+1.6%), driven by a 4% increase in international tourism, while domestic tourism saw a slight decline of 0.8% (Source: Confcommercio, 2024). However, despite this positive trend, the third quarter of 2024 showed a slowdown, with a 1.4% drop in overnight stays. Specifically, July recorded a 7.7% decrease in arrivals, while August saw a 1.3% decline (Source: ISTAT, 2024 Tourism Flow Report). The future goal will be to define targeted strategies to ensure sustainable and competitive growth in the tourism industry.
