On October 14th, 24 museums and a thousand institutions in Italy will celebrate contemporary art
For the 13th consecutive year, AMACI (Associazione Musei d’Arte Contemporanea Italiani – Italian association of contemporary art museums), organized the Day of Contemporary Art, a great event that brings the art of our era to the general public.
For this year’s edition, which will take place on Saturday, 14 October 2017, the directors of AMACI’S 24 member museums turned to Liliana Moro for the guide image, continuing the project started in 2006 of asking an internationally renowned Italian artist to create the image for the event. ‘Daily bread’ is the slogan that she chose, the guide image of the event – two simple words to highlight one of the first needs of man. “It is everyone’s need and right, linked to the world of work, but also to culture, to everyday events; it must be a guideline,” said Moro explaining her choice. “I did not create an image, but I chose to use these two words because I think simplicity is the most effective thing: I hope culture will become everyone’s daily bread, starting with each one’s education. I hope this ‘daily bread’ will be more and more in our minds and in our hearts.”
In occasion of the Day of Contemporary Art the 24 AMACI museums will open their doors free of charge, along with about a thousand institutions throughout Italy, to present artists and new ideas through exhibitions, workshops, events and conferences. In the years, this multiform program has given the general public an opportunity to experience the complex and lively world of contemporary art.
